Leadership Fayetteville began in 1982 upon an ideal that a great community depends upon sound leadership. This program has produced over 800 participants in the community that continue to network well beyond their time in the program, building sound business relationships which adds value to their organizations.
Throughout the program participants are exposed to local, state and federal community and civic leaders who serve as faculty, mentors or speakers to impart how individual and group leaders can make a positive impact on our the community. Meeting one full day a month each month, September through May, Leadership Fayetteville is where you or your employee will get acquainted with the other great folks involved and visit great locations throughout the area, all the while gaining valuable insight into the dynamics of our community from leaders of virtually every industry and business type.
The cost for the adult program is $950 per participant. This investment covers expenses for breakfast, lunch, snacks, speakers, program materials and graduation program. A portion of the fee also helps to sponsor a rising High School junior participate in our Leadership Fayetteville Youth Academy.
Leadership Fayetteville Program Highlights:
Retreat/Team Building - The day’s activities are high energy and focused on individual and team dynamics. The day provides the participants time to network and learn about their classmates, bond and learn and practice problem solving skills.
Government & Economy - The day’s activities focus on local city, county and state government and on the local economy, economic drivers and the people and organizations that influence, grow and promote local economic development and how it affects the businesses, organizations and residents of Fayetteville and Cumberland County.. Participants will have the opportunity to meet local and state leaders and learn firsthand about important issues impacting our community.
Arts, Tourism & History- Nothing to do in Fayetteville? This day will debunk that cliché as it showcases the arts, culture, history and entertainment venues available to Fayetteville and Cumberland County residents: This exciting day introduces the Arts Council, local art galleries and museums, theatres, sports teams and symphonies.
Community - Community day focuses on the many businesses and organizations that enhance Fayetteville/Cumberland County’s quality of life. Meet the people impacting the lives of thousands every day from organizations such as the Second Harvest Food Bank, Salvation Army, Operation In As much just to name a few. The class' community project will be chosen from one of the presentations given by local non-profits.
Law & Order - From the streets to the courts, classes will follow the legal process from beginning to end while meeting the responders and judges who are involved in the process.
Health/Medicine - Focuses on the high quality of healthcare available throughout the community. You will get an opportunity to meet and hear from the leaders of the most respected healthcare facilities in the area.
Education - The day will focus on the many superb educational options available to Cumberland County residents from kindergarten through high school to exploring the many area colleges and universities.
Agribusiness - City goes country when this day focuses on Cumberland County livestock and agriculture and how agribusiness affects the local economy. You will visit working farms and local hatcheries, and farm to table operations.
Military - This exciting day presents an up close and personal look at Fort Bragg, its leadership, mission, mandates, and equipment and, of course, the men and women dedicated to serving and protecting our Nation.
CLASS PROJECT - As a class the participants will select a project which supports one or more of the program days themes. Potential projects are identified by local community partners. The participants will select a project through consensus and then work as a team to complete it prior to graduation. This real-world experience teaches participants how to work within a group and helps to build and demonstrate leadership skills. It is also provides an opportunity for participants to make a lasting change in the community.
