Veterans Services Department Ranks No. 1 In Claims Distribution

FAYETTEVILLE – Cumberland County Veterans Services has been ranked No. 1 in the state for Geographic Distribution of Veterans Affairs Expenditures for fiscal year 2018. The North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs notified the County’s Veterans Services office in a letter. Veterans Services Director Eric Redrick and his staff were honored by the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners at their Jan. 6 meeting.

Cumberland County ranked first in the state with VA expenditures of $897,700,000. The dollar amount exceeds 2017 expenditures by $32.2 million. The VA expenditures include compensation and pension, construction and education and vocational rehabilitation employment. Cumberland County also ranked No. 1 in VA expenditures in 2018.

In the letter to Cumberland County Veterans Services, NCDMVA Regional Manager Robert Johnson said, “The news of Cumberland County Veterans Services achieving this prestigious position does not come as any surprise. Having known your office and the amount of hard work you and your staff provide to the veterans of Cumberland County every day deserves recognition. As always, your office has thrived to be the best and this year is proving once again.”

“It is a privilege to be honored for what we do for veterans day in and day out and hopefully we can repeat this honor once again next year,” Redrick said.

Jon H. Cone Sr., chaplain of the Sergeants Major Association, attended the commissioners meeting and presented certificates of excellence to each Veterans Services staff member.
