Taxpayers Reminded of Deadline, Listings
FAYETTEVILLE – The Cumberland County Tax Administration Office reminds citizens that property taxes for real estate and personal property listed in January 2019 will be delinquent if not paid by Jan. 6, 2020. Interest and enforced collections such as bank levy, wage/rent garnishments, and/or foreclosure, will begin on Jan. 7, 2020. Interest and collection fees will be added to the tax amount due.
County Government offices and the Courthouse will be closed Dec. 24 – 26 for the Christmas holiday. Offices will again be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day. Tax Administration reminds citizens of these closings and to plan appropriately. The last week of the year is extremely busy for the office with taxpayers seeking receipts by Dec. 31 for 2019 income tax filing purposes.
Payments may be made in the office, by phone, or online with your credit or debit card. There is a processing fee for credit/debit card payments whether made in the office, by phone or online. Electronic check draft payments may be made online for no additional fee.
To pay in person, go to Room 527 on the fifth floor of the Courthouse, 117 Dick St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. To pay by phone, call 1-866-441-6614. To pay online, visit co.cumberland.nc.us/tax/
payments. The address to pay taxes by mail is Cumberland County Tax Collector, P.O. Box 449, Fayetteville, NC 28302-0449.
The 2020 annual property tax listing period begins Jan. 1 and runs through Jan. 31. Listing forms must be updated, signed and returned and must be postmarked no later than Jan. 31 to avoid the 10 percent late listing fee.
