Partner Again to End Hunger
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Second Harvest Food Bank, an Action Pathways program, is partnering with Cumberland Community Foundation for the third year in a row to bring 1,000,000 pounds of food for the hungry to Cumberland County, NC.
Food manufacturers across the country donate their products to national distribution sites, but food banks must cover the expense of transportation back to their communities. For just $600, Second Harvest Food Bank can bring a tractor trailer full of food to our community. The $600 represents the cost of fuel, truck rental, insurance, and the driver. Each tractor trailer can hold about 33,000 pounds. The goal of the One Million Pounds campaign is to raise enough to bring an additional 31 tractor trailers, or 1,000,000 pounds of food, to Cumberland County to stop hunger.
The additional one million pounds will be distributed through the 260 food pantries supplied by Second Harvest Food Bank and will provide an estimated 800,000 meals to hungry people in our community.
No gift is too small. Cumberland Community Foundation is accepting gifts. One hundred percent of every donation goes directly to Second Harvest Food Bank for the One Million Pounds campaign.
