INDIGO MOON FILM FESTIVAL
PRESENTS CHECK TO
CONNECTIONS OF CUMBERLAND COUNTY
FAYETTEVILLE, NC —
Today Indigo Moon Film Festival presented a check for $3,377.23 to Connections of Cumberland County. The amount reflects the total collected by the box office during the 2019 film festival held in October.
This gift to Connections is representative of the slogan adopted by the festival: “Film Inspires Change.” In addition, Connections will be the focus of a promotional video that will be produced free of charge. The video will be used to promote the programs of Connections of Cumberland County, as well as to inform attendees of the 2020 Indigo Moon Film Festival about the charitable donation made possible through their ticket and pass purchases.
Connections of Cumberland County’s slogan of “Connecting to Improve Lives” dovetails nicely with GroundSwell Pictures’ and Indigo Moon Film Festival’s belief that “Film Inspires Change.” Through this partnership, we believe we can achieve even more positive change in our community.
About Connections of Cumberland County
Connections of Cumberland County developed as a result of research conducted by the Women’s Giving Circle of Cumberland County on the basic needs of local women and children. This research revealed an alarming number of homeless women and children in our county. The founders made a commitment to implement a day resource center with case management, skills development and collaborative community resources. This model prevents the unnecessary duplication of services and provides a “one-stop shop” approach for women and children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. In July of 2014, Connections of Cumberland County opened its doors to women and children and began improving lives.
About GroundSwell Pictures
GroundSwell Pictures is a nonprofit in Fayetteville North Carolina that seeks to engage and inspire diverse communities by producing films, showing films, teaching filmmaking and supporting films that make a positive difference and enrich the community through cultural arts.
About Indigo Moon Film Festival
Indigo Moon Film Festival, a program of GroundSwell Pictures, is held the second weekend in October in historic downtown Fayetteville, NC. The festival began in 2016 to fill a need for this under-represented cultural art in the region. Kicking off the weekend is an Opening Night Film and Reception on Friday. On Saturday, more than 80 films from around the world are screened in multiple venues. Filmmakers provide insight during post-screening Q&A sessions. The Awards BBQ & Banquet is held on Sunday, acknowledging filmmakers with six Jury Awards and six Audience Awards. An encore screening of the Jury Award-winning films follows.
